This statement is not relevant to TrekTrakPro which does not access the
internet.
TrekTrak incorporates a web browser to display banner adverts, this is what
enables us to supply the software for free.
ALL browsers, including the one in TrekTrak, pass your IP address when making
any request for a web page. This is the return address to which the web page
will be sent and is how the Internet works.
In normal configuration, ALL web servers including ours, automatically
receive and record information in server logs from browser requests, including
the IP address and the page requested.
Periodically TrekTrak will update the list of advertisements it displays to
you. When TrekTrak does this, apart from the usual web server log information
mentioned above, it does not pass any information about you or your computer to
anyone, it simply gets a new list. This list of advertisements and the
advertisements themselves can only be
updated whilst TrekTrak is running.
Once TrekTrak has been installed by you it does NOT install any
software onto your computer and does NOT contain any mechanism for
automatically installing software upgrades. As already stated it will
periodically update the list of advertisements it displays to you.
TrekTrak does not rely on any external third party software components, such
as DLLs or COM objects, to manage the display of banner adverts.
Apart from the usual web server log information mentioned above, TrekTrak does
NOT extract ANY information from your PC and pass it via the
Internet other than storing its own list of advertisements to display and then
requesting those images. It does NOT access any information about you or
programs you may have on your PC.
If you would prefer an enhanced version without banners, you can upgrade to
TrekTrakPro for a very small cost.
